SpongeBob SquarePants is een tekenfilmserie die sinds 2003 door Nickelodeon wereldwijd wordt uitgezonden, met in de hoofdrol een gele spons die op de bodem van de zee leeft. De serie wordt sinds 1999 geproduceerd.

The series' popularity has made it a media franchise, as well as the highest rated series to ever air on Nickelodeon, and the most distributed property of MTV Networks. The media franchise has generated $8 billion in merchandising revenue for Nickelodeon.

Bob l'éponge (titre original : SpongeBob SquarePants) est une série télévisée d'animation américaine, créée par l'animateur et ex-biologiste Stephen Hillenburg. La série se centre principalement sur les exploits et aventures d'une petite éponge jaune carrée anthropomorphe et de ses amis localisés au fond de l'Océan Pacifique dans une ville nommée Bikini Bottom. La popularité de l'émission a permis de créer une franchise. C'est la série qui a la plus forte audience de la chaîne de télévision Nickelodeon, la plus grande distribution sur MTV Networks et figure parmi les dessins animés Nicktoons les plus regardés2. En date de 2013, Bob l'éponge est le seul Nicktoon des années 1990 à ne pas avoir pris fin.
